I've been out of commission for over two months getting over an art block and health issues, then left for Korea for 3 weeks..so I've gotten very little art done until recently. I've finally started feeling better and able to focus again on arting.

Day 1 of freedom

So I left my job recently, and I've been working out a list of things to get through to improve my work in the next 6 months of projected free time. One thing I'm trying to do is to update the blog with something, a sketch, a painting, anything, as often as possible. Here's something to commemorate the first day:

A 1 hr practice sketch from photo ref. I'm not feeling this one, didn't capture the texture of the graham crust/dough very well. Flakes of chocolate are also a bitch to 'suggest', I think I wasted a bunch of time trying out different brushes that just ended up failing. Ahh good old round brush. <3

Okay, Garrett made me do it...huge dump of all the art I've done this summer (mostly in the month of July)

"Princess Serenity" watercolor painting, measures 16" x 20" which was sold at Otakon Artshow.

Okami "Celestial Gods" watercolor painting with gold ink, measures 9" x 17" (or something like that) which was also sold at Otakon Artshow.

Been busy as hell preping for conventions! Here's a new piece I made for 2010 con season! Kuroshitsuji's Ciel and Sebastian~ Blue is difficult color to work with, especially in the darker shades.

And a quick 7 hour print I did for the animal loving Akon crowd: Wolf's Rain

A fairly successful first two conventions of the year. Going to do some originals for the upcoming Otakon and Fanexpo.

This time for a friend - Grace and her OC pirateish looking character Rivek. Getting faster at painting faces, but no improvement in structure or attractiveness -_- Need to work on painting faster and with more confidence...I find I muck around a lot while painting, not sure what I'm doing.

A lot of people have suggested writing down New Years Resolutions so more to "solidify" them and thus, somehow they would be more likely achieved. I am writing this as a reminder for myself the things I need improve/obtain/change or in some imaginative way procure to feel more legitimate about myself before 2011.

1) Design, my eye for design is mediocre, my hand far worse. Work on design.

2) Improve my grammar and vocabulary. I can't seem to think or speak as eloquently as I did when I was in middle school. Reading more and writing proper grammar should help this improve.

3) Grow 1" taller. (Hey if I write it down, it's more likely to happen right?)

4) Work on anatomy, color, composition, all that stuff that makes art awesome. Take some life drawing classes.

5) Get a car.

6) Learn a martial arts or dance.

7) Draw more originals this year.
